Garden pants in linen check

To call these pants a journey is an understatement. I first got the idea to own a pair of checked pants a few years back when I saw a friend of mine wearing a pair he had made from scratch. I naturally asked him if he could possibly make a pair for me out of the remaining fabric. He agreed. Saldy, the studio he was using was shut down during COVID-19 and there were no other sewing resources available to finish the pants. My passion for these pants was still burning so I requested that he sent me the fabric so I could figure it out myself. I had initially found other commissions for the pants but in the end I was flaked on time after time. When I first got my sewing machine these pants were the one thing I knew I had to make. I drafted countless patterns and tweaked multiple fitting issues for these pants and the result is my perfect pair of summer pants. The general idea of an oversized check trouser remained the same, but I have been able to add my own twists and features to the garment to make them my own. The main feature of these pants is the waist. These pants feature the same drawstring mechanic as other pieces from this collection, but include extra fabric at the top that give this pant a ruching effect that I am a huge fan of. I have been wearing these nonstop this summer and I could not be happier with how they turned out.
