PAW*18 - Extended Kimono

An extended flannel kimono. I initially became interested in the idea of a kimono when I found a lounge noragi at muji back in high school. The slouchy silhouette and undefined lines caught my eye right away. Years later, now making my own clothing I knew it was a style I would have to attempt eventually. The kimono design already parallels my design language but I added some details to make it feel more true to my unique expression. This primarily comes from the extended belt and neckline which drop below the waist, accentuating the form and fabric in motion. Being raised in Minneapolis I was also obsessed with the look of baseball shirts from a young age, so adding a button closure is a nod to that style as well.
