The Ladder bag. My primary goal for this piece was to execute a bag in a non-traditional form. I liked the idea of having a more vertical bag that extends close to the ground when worn. The essence of a ladder was the first idea that I found interesting enough to pursue for this bag. I used the vertical rails and horizontal rungs as the basic frame of the bag. The negative space of the ladder was filled with functional padded square zip pockets. While finishing this bag, I couldn't help but notice a resemblance to other objects as well. One thing it reminds me of is a medical stretcher commonly used in WW2 due to its color and form. It is also reminiscent of a wall-hung calendar, which is how I have been using it when I am not wearing the bag out. Here are some detailed shots showing the front, back, horse tails, front pockets, and tag. This bag is finished with a mid-wight duck canvas and cotton linen lining.
