PAW*35 - 7/8th Thermal
PAW*35 - 7/8th Thermal
The 7/8th thermal. This piece explored many of the central tenets of PAW* as a project. One of these main tenets is reworking standard garments you can find anywhere in a way that adds my own touch and design. This is achieved primarily with the offset chest placket, which gives it the name 7/8ths. Traditionally you would have a quarter, half, or full closure, but I found the idea of extending the closure to just before the hem aesthetically interesting. I originally used this thermal fabric many weeks back for PAW*16 orders, as I ran out of the original fabric, but never got a chance to make myself one. I thought with fall in full swing this would be the perfect opportunity. Another central tenet of PAW* is attempting new techniques that I am unfamiliar with. Though it was a slow gradual process, I was finally able to pattern a well-fitting raglan sleeve, which is something I have wanted to do for quite some time now. This piece is constructed in a midweight hand-dyed thermal material and finished with contrasting ivory buttons.
