The Jiro shirt. This shirt was principally inspired by Jiro, the main character of my favorite Studio Ghibli film 'The Wind Rises’. This movie dives into the artistic mind of an engineer whose sole desire is to create functional beauty through planes. With the war raging all around him, he is left with the choice to either give up his craft or create his art for pain and destruction. For this piece, I wanted to capture that same feeling of an unbridled plane rising through the air, without having the restriction of compromising my art's impact or intentions. This is accomplished through the use of a thin but crisp ivory shirting fabric, and functional tassels strewn through the piece, which accent the wearer in motion. This shirt also features a dual back yoke, functional pleats, and adjustable wrist closure to add to the level of ease of the garment.
