The Sash Wrap Kimono. This piece falls into one of the central tenets of PAW*, which is recreating existing items of clothing that I cannot access elsewhere in my own way. The last time I did this was for week 20, modeling the beach denim after a pair of vintage Yohji trousers. This piece was modeled after the kimono from Craig Green's SS15 collection. Ever since I saw the piece, I have been obsessed with it, but I could never find it in my size. My main fascination with the piece comes from the look and drape of the open-chest design. This is largely due to the drop tie-up closure, which I stayed true to in my piece. Fortunately, I was able to replicate the same silhouette and drape on my kimono by just eyeballing runway photos. Besides the open chest tie-up look, this piece is defined by the removable sash, which adds depth and dimension to the garment with this interesting stacked fabric effect. This piece is finished with French seams throughout and constructed out of a sheer Italian shirting fabric.
