The Reflection Trousers. Last September, after my NYFW runway debut, I took a day to visit the MoMa. I saw many iconic paintings, including the works of Van Gogh and Matisse, but the work that caught my eye the most was the Stomach Apron by George Macunas. The idea of imposing layers of the human form on a blank canvas compelled me and reignited my obsession with human anatomy in design. To apply this motif in my own work, I used hand painted panels that serve as a reflection of how I interpret my own form and figure. These panels can then be fastened to corresponding anatomical landmarks on a pair of minimally designed trousers. The result of this is a garment which acts as the mirror between 2 human forms. One true form, and its reflection. This modular design can be worn in a variety of ways depending on preference, which also allows the individual panels to serve as decorative wall hangings.
